The proposed demonstration units for serving farmers and grassroots cultural construction in 2023 were announced on January 12. The Miao Opera Troupe in Huayuan County, was selected as a demonstration unit for grassroots cultural and artistic troupes in Hunan, and the rural library in Shake Village, Malichang Town, Huayuan County was rated as a demonstration unit for rural libraries and grassroots book distribution units in the province.
As the only professional art group for Miao opera in China, the Miao Opera Troupe is committed to promoting the inheritance and development of Miao opera. It has created excellent plays based on targeted poverty alleviation and rural revitalization to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the masses, and empower cultural prosperity.
More than 200 cultural activities like performances and training are held every year, over 20,000 cultural talents of various types have been trained, and more than 250 performance activities are carried out in villages, serving more than 150,000 people.
Besides, the troupe has created more than 40 Miao operas and won more than 20 national, provincial, and prefectural awards.
The rural library in Shake Village, as a representative venue to spread rural culture in a new Miao village in the new era, has carried out various reading and studying activities every year, and become an important study base for farmers and children, satisfying the desire of the masses to pursue a high-quality cultural life.
